Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – April 22 2025: Rua Al Madinah Holding has received the “Architectural Innovation Award” for the design of the 110 kV power substations, part of Rua Al Madinah Project currently under development near the Prophet’s Mosque.

The award was presented during the Construction Innovation Awards KSA 2025.

Rua Al Madinah Holding is developing four 110 kV substations as part of Rua Al Madinah project to provide the necessary electrical power for the development, in addition to a central 380 kV station that will supply power to the four substations.

The award-winning design features an innovative architectural approach that blends the urban heritage of Madinah with modern architecture. The façades incorporate “Mashrabiyas”—a prominent element of traditional Madinah architecture—in a contemporary form. The design also embraces a gradient color palette inspired by natural materials, ranging from light white tones to warm, earthy, and deep organic shades.

The design takes into consideration the surrounding environment by integrating green spaces around the substations, enhancing both visual and functional connectivity with the urban fabric. The spatial layout was carefully planned to align with the architectural character of the city and reinforce the project’s visual identity.

This award reflects Rua Al Madinah Holding’s commitment to delivering innovative architectural solutions that enhance the identity of Madinah while aligning with the latest global trends in construction and design.

Rua Al Madinah project aims to elevate Madinah’s status as a global cultural destination through a fully integrated hospitality and commercial ecosystem. Inspired by the city’s architectural heritage, the project adopts a forward-looking and sustainable design concept, offering premium hospitality services that meet the expectations of visitors. This is in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which targets hosting 30 million pilgrims and visitors annually while enriching their experience.
